Llanberis pass, Dinorwig slate quarries...6

Winding drum building.

Trees seem to survive well in this environment.

 The track approaches an incline.

Looking up the incline.

Opening in the incline. Starting to crumble as the metal supports rust away, probably a good 50 years life left yet!

Don't know if butterfly's are territorial or not, took this one in the same area as yesterday's shot, could be the same one.

The weather on Wednesday 23 July was a perfect summers day so I decided on a totally new walk for me. It would take me through the old slate workings and close to the Dinorwig hydroelectric power station. The route, approx 4.5 miles round trip, is indicated on the map below.

The route.

View from the car park.

Over the bracken.

Dried up river bed.

Looking towards the lake and in the distance, left of centre, Dolbadarn castle.

The track across the valley floor.
