Denbigh .......Boxing Day Celebrations. 2

The hunt arrives in the centre of town.

Huntswoman, very pretty too.

Fine looking horse.

Like the earring.

Denbigh .......Boxing Day Celebrations.

The day starts with a parade of vintage tractors.

Ready for the off.

A Ferguson, first UK tractor with hydraulics. Spent many hours driving one of these on the farm in my youth.

Fordson major.

Slightly more modern.

Waiting for the hunt to arrive, a fine horse.

Walk to the Gold Mine.17

Final pic's from the gold mine walk.

These falls, just down river from the bridge, I am naming "Shark Falls". If you look at the rock in the centre, it looks like a shark rising out of the water.

A sign in Ganllwyd village, keeping the school children safe.

The old tree is still hanging on in there.

Walk to the Gold Mine.12

Best wishes and a big thank you to all the people who take the trouble to look at  my blog each day, much appreciated.

After climbing the stile in the distance, it's time to make our way back down.

Rear of the ruin.

Looks like we are "heavy with lamb".

Caught in the shadows.

Walk to the Gold Mine.11

My old firm doing a flypast for me. an RAF Hercules.

Natures artwork.

Collapsed chimney.

Some mist still swirling around the valley.

Walk to the Gold Mine.9

Looking over the mine.

Waste tip from the mine, probably still contains some traces of gold.

Remains of a building at the mine entrance.

Still a heavy frost in the distant valley.

Walk to the Gold Mine.8

Approaching the mine,

A look back. This was probably a tramway when the mine was being worked.

The entrance to the "Cefn Coch" mine, translates to "Red Ridge".

Inside the entrance. No doubt a fortune in gold has come through here.

The way ahead is barred and like most mines there is plenty of water dripping through the roof.

Newborn Lambs.

Taken on my walk today, newborn lambs and slightly later this year. They can handle the cold but they can't survive in a lot of rain.
This was an awkward shot as it was not fully daylight, had to lean the camera against a gatepost to keep it steady. Settings 1/5 second, f5.6 and ASA 3200. I read a review where someone wrote that the Nikon D3200 noise performance wasn't too good at high ASA settings, certainly no noise problem here specially when you consider it wasn't fully light with cars still driving with headlamps on.

Walk to the Gold Mine.7

House in the valley.

Lone tree.

Distant waste level. The mine must be close by, not having a map means looking for clues.

Looking down on Ganllwyd village, hopefully my car is still down there!
